1. Capertee Gorge, Australia


Australia's Capertee Gorge is the largest canyon in Australia and is known for its rugged topography and towering sandstone cliffs. Due to its age, Capertee Canyon is not as deep as the other canyons on this list, but it is massive.


Capertee Canyon is 0.6 miles (1 km) wider than the Grand Canyon. There are many ways to truly appreciate the majestic beauty of the canyon.

The Kaligandaki River winds its way through Nepal's Kaligandaki Gorge and is older than the Himalayan mountains that surround it. The water of the river is black due to glacial silt.


The exact depth of Kali Gandaki Canyon has been debated, as not everyone agrees on the height of its rim. But if it could be measured from the highest peaks on either side of the river, it would be the deepest canyon in the world at 22,309 feet (6,800 meters).


3. Grand Canyon, USA


The Grand Canyon of the United States is one of the world’s most famous natural wonders, through which the Colorado River flows, and it is one of the natural heritages selected by UNESCO as protected.

It is one of the longest canyons in the world, with a total length of 446 kilometers. The top of the canyon is 6 to 28 kilometers wide, and the deepest point is 1800 meters.


The water surface at the bottom of the valley is less than 1,000 meters wide. In summer, the ice and snow melt, and the water depth increases to 18 meters. The rocks there are mostly red.


4. Fish River Grand Canyon, Namibia


The Fish River Grand Canyon, located in the Ayers/Hittswaite Transnational Park, is the second-largest canyon in the world and the largest canyon in Africa. The Fish River Grand Canyon is about 160 kilometers long, 27 meters wide and more than 550 meters deep.


It is one of the main tourist destinations in southern Namibia.


The Fish River Grand Canyon hiking trail ranks among the top hiking trails in southern Africa, and backpackers can walk along the river. The road is surrounded by steep cliffs on both sides, and below is a deep winding river.


The whole route leads from the northernmost point of the Fish River Grand Canyon to Anais Hot Spring.


Many tourists choose to explore the Fish River Grand Canyon on foot, and it takes at least five days to complete the hiking adventure. Hiking and exploring the Fish River Grand Canyon can only be done in winter.


The summer is from April 15th to September 15th every year, and the weather is extremely hot.


5. Colca Canyon, Peru
