The badminton scene at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris has been nothing short of surprising!

Hosted from July 27 to August 5 at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, the tournament features 172 players vying for glory across five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The journey to Paris was intense, with 172 spots up for grabs, evenly divided between men and women. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could field a maximum of eight players across the five events. France, as the host, automatically secured spots in both men's and women's singles, while other spots were earned through the rigorous 'Race to Paris' ranking list by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Amid all the action, Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik made headlines by clinching the country's first medal of the Games—a bronze in men's doubles! They triumphed in a nail-biting match against Denmark's Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, securing their win with scores of 16-21, 22-20, 21-19. This victory not only repeats their success from Tokyo 2020 but also highlights their continued dominance on the global stage!

Meanwhile, India's Lakshya Sen, despite his semi-final loss to Viktor Axelsen, is set to compete for bronze. Axelsen, the reigning world champion, praised Sen's performance and foresaw him as a strong contender for future Olympics. Sen's upcoming match against Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia promises to be an exciting finish to the badminton singles tournament.

As we are waiting for the finals on Monday, August 5th at 15:40 (CET), the badminton competition has showcased incredible talent and unforgettable moments. From dramatic comebacks to fierce battles, this year's games have certainly set the stage for future badminton legends!

Good luck to them!
