Cats, which belong to the cat family, are widely kept as pets in families all over the world. It is speculated that the ancestors of domestic cats were desert cats that originated in ancient Egypt and Persian cats in Persia.

Cats have been domesticated by humans for 3,500 years (though not to the same extent as dogs). They are gentle, intelligent, and lively animals, and have been kept as family pets for a long time, particularly in European and American countries.

The cat's sensory organs are extremely well-developed, and it can always respond keenly to its surrounding environment. All cats are born with noble characteristics. The domestic cat lineage prides itself on being the healthiest, keenest, most dangerous, most attractive, and bravest mammal on earth.

Compared to pumas, cats are very docile, but unlike other domesticated animals such as dogs, cats also had a slightly wild, independent, and uninhibited character in the past.

As long as you observe carefully, you can find that the total length of a cat's whiskers is proportional to the width of its body. There are extremely sensitive sensory nerves at the root of a cat's whiskers, which can be felt as soon as the tip of the whiskers lightly touches an object. It is actually a supplement to the cat's visual senses and a very important sensory organ in its body.

Cats have very sensitive hearing, and many sounds can be heard by cats but not by humans. Cats are also better at localizing sounds than humans.

The cat's ears are like two radar antennas, which can swing 180 degrees without moving the head so that the cat can accurately locate the sound edge. Cats can memorize the sounds of their owners, such as footsteps and the sound of calling their names.

Regarding the classification of cats, due to different countries and the translation of languages in various countries, many different versions have been produced.

But all changes remain the same, except for the difference in names, no matter how they are divided, they cannot be separated from the following methods:

According to the living environment:

1. Domestic cats: Refer to cats raised after being domesticated by humans, but they do not rely too much on humans and still retain the instinct to survive independently.

2. Wild cats: Originally the ancestors of domestic cats, they lived in wild environments such as deserts and forests. In the history of biology, cats appeared as early as 12 million years ago.

Divided according to the degree of breeding of cat breeds:

1. Purebred cats: Refer to cats carefully bred by people according to a certain purpose. It usually takes several years to successfully breed. Its heredity can be stabilized after at least four generations.

The genetic characteristics of this cat are stable, and the various characteristics of the kitten and the parent cat are very similar, and there are few prominent differences.

2. Hybrid cats: Cats that are allowed to reproduce naturally without human control, and the heredity of their offspring is very unstable. Even within the same litter, there may be several different coat colors.

But hybrid cats are not the same as rambunctious. Cats are restricted by factors such as geography. Within a certain range, after several years, cat breeds with certain characteristics may also be formed.

According to the length of the cat's coat:

1. Long-haired cats: Maine Coon cats, Ragdoll cats, Himalayan cats, Persian cats, and Somali cats are representative.

2. Short-haired cats: There are more varieties of short-haired cats than long-haired cats. The more common and well-known ones are the Siamese cat, American short and British short, Japanese short-tailed cat, foreign short-haired cat, Abyssinian cat, and Scottish tabby cat.
